If something’s gone wrong, tell us your phone model, your Android version, and what you were doing when it happened. A screenshot or a few seconds of screen recording is worth more than any of it.

How do I set Lumen as my wallpaper?

Open Lumen, pick a scene, and tap “Set wallpaper”. You can also go the long way round: Settings → Wallpaper → Live wallpapers, then choose Lumen. The exact path moves around a bit between Android versions and phone makers.

Which Android versions does it run on?

Android 8.0 and up — that’s API level 26, released in 2017. On anything older, Google Play will tell you the app isn’t compatible with your device and won’t let you install it. Worth checking before you join the test.

How many scenes are there?

Ten. All of them are in the app from the moment you install it — nothing is locked, and none of them download anything.

Will it drain my battery?

It draws at 30 frames a second at the very most, and a scene that nothing is happening to settles down to drawing no frames at all until something changes. When your screen goes off, or another app comes to the front, it stops. At 15% battery it gives up animating altogether and shows a still image of your scene, then picks up again once you’re back above 20%.

Does it need an internet connection?

No, and it couldn’t use one if it wanted to. Lumen ships without the INTERNET permission, so Android won’t let it open a network connection. Airplane mode changes nothing.

What data do you collect about me?

None. No account, nothing measured, nothing sent anywhere. The privacy policy goes through it item by item.

Are there ads or in-app purchases?

No ads. No in-app purchases either — there’s no billing code in the app at all.

The wallpaper looks wrong or stutters on my device.

Write in with your phone model and Android version and we’ll take a look. Live wallpaper behaviour varies a fair bit between manufacturers, so the specifics genuinely help.
