Privacy Policy

Lumen doesn’t collect anything. No sign-in, no analytics, nowhere to send anything to — the installed app doesn’t hold the INTERNET permission, so it can’t open a network connection. That isn’t us promising to behave. It’s what Android will let the app do.

It reads four things to paint a frame: the clock, your battery level, the tilt sensors, and — in two of the ten scenes — where you tap. Those numbers sit in memory for as long as it takes to draw, then they’re gone.

Nothing. Here’s the specific list, because “nothing” on its own is easy to write:

• No personal information. No name, email address, or phone number, and no account — the app has no sign-in screen.
• No identifiers. No Android Advertising ID, no device ID, no fingerprinting of any kind.
• No location. The app never asks for the location permission and doesn’t infer where you are by any other route.
• No usage or analytics data. There’s no analytics SDK in the build, no telemetry, and no event logging.
• No crash or diagnostic reports. There’s no crash-reporting service either.
• No contacts, photos, files, messages, microphone, or camera data.

Nothing, and not as a matter of policy. An Android app needs the INTERNET permission to open a network socket. Lumen doesn’t declare it. The only permission in the built app bundle is one the Android build tools generate so the app’s own internal broadcast receivers stay private to it, and it isn’t something you’re ever asked to grant.

Put your phone in airplane mode. The wallpaper won’t notice.

Lumen requests no runtime permissions. Android never shows you a permission prompt for it, because there’s nothing to prompt for. No location, no notifications, no storage, no camera, no microphone.

It registers itself as a live wallpaper service. That’s what puts it in your device’s wallpaper picker, and it’s the whole of its special access to the system.

To animate at all, a scene needs to know a few things about the moment it’s drawing in. Android hands these to any app without asking you first:

• The clock. A scene reads the time so it can sit at the right point in the day. Daylight rises and fades across Ridgeline; Lantern Festival’s lanterns burn brighter the darker it gets outside.
• Battery level. Some scenes draw it into the artwork. It also drives the power fallback: at 15% the wallpaper stops animating and shows a still image of your scene, and it starts again once you’re back above 20%.
• Tilt, from the accelerometer and rotation sensors, so layers can part and shift as you move the phone.
• Touch on the wallpaper surface. Two of the ten scenes use it — Lantern Garden and Koi Still, where a tap disturbs the water.

Each of these is read to draw the current frame and for nothing else. None of it is written to a log or a database, none of it is combined into a profile of you, and there is no code path that could send any of it anywhere. When the wallpaper isn’t on screen it stops reading them, because it stops drawing.

Whichever scene you pick, and anything else you change in the app, Android saves in Lumen’s own private storage on your device. We can’t see it. Uninstalling the app deletes it.

Lumen is fine for any age. It collects nothing from anyone, children included, so there’s no child’s data for us to hold, hand over, or delete, and nothing a parent needs to consent to.

If a future version of Lumen ever reads something new, this page and the date at the top get updated before that version ships, and the Data Safety declaration on Google Play gets updated to match it. We’re not going to quietly widen what the app touches and leave this page saying otherwise.
