Rules
- Each turn you roll five dice up to three times, keeping any you like between rolls, then score them in one of 13 rows. Every row is used once, so a game is 13 turns each.
- The top six rows score the total of one number: Ones, Twos, up to Sixes. Get 63 or more across them for a 35-point bonus.
- Three or four of a kind score the total of all five dice. A full house (three of one number and two of another) scores 25, a small straight (four in a row) 30, a large straight (five in a row) 40, and Chance takes any dice for their total.
- Five the same is a Yacht: 50 points. Every extra Yacht after that earns 100 more, and must be scored in its number's top row if it's free, otherwise any free bottom row at full value, otherwise 0 in a free top row.
- If you've played Yahtzee, you already know how: Yacht is the older game it resembles, played since at least 1938.
Yacht questions
How do you play Yacht?
On each turn roll five dice up to three times, keeping any you like between rolls, then score them in one of 13 rows. After 13 turns each, the most points wins.
Is Yacht the same as Yahtzee?
It plays the way Yahtzee does: three and four of a kind, a full house for 25, straights for 30 and 40, Chance, and a top-row bonus. Yacht is the older dice game, played since at least 1938.
What is a Yacht worth?
Five dice the same is a Yacht: 50 points. Every extra Yacht after that earns 100 more.
How do you get the 35-point bonus?
Score 63 or more across the top six rows, Ones to Sixes. That's three of each number, so aim for three or more every time you fill a top row.
What's a good Yacht strategy?
Go for the top-row bonus early and save Chance for a bad turn later. A row you score 0 in is gone for the whole game, so put a bad roll in the row you need least.
Can I play Yacht with a friend online?
Yes. Tap Invite a friend and send them the link; when they open it you're in the same game. Or pass one phone or tablet between you.
How hard is the computer?
Three levels. Easy chases one number, Medium plans one roll ahead, and Hard plans its whole turn.
