How to play Memory Match

  1. 1Pick who you’re playing: the computer, a friend online with a room code, a friend on the same screen, or someone new with Quick match. Then choose a 4×4 or 6×6 board.
  2. 2On your turn, flip one face-down card, then flip a second.
  3. 3If the two faces match, you claim the pair and take another turn.
  4. 4If they don't match, both cards flip back face-down. Remember where they were.
  5. 5Keep flipping until every pair is claimed; whoever holds the most pairs wins.

Rules

  • Cards are dealt face-down in matching pairs: 8 pairs on a 4×4 board, 18 pairs on 6×6.
  • Each turn you reveal exactly two cards.
  • A matching pair is claimed and removed, and earns you an immediate extra turn.
  • A mismatch flips both cards back face-down and passes the turn to your opponent.
  • When all pairs are matched, whoever claimed the most wins; an equal split is a draw.

Memory Match questions

How do you play Memory Match?

Flip two cards on your turn. If they match, you keep the pair and go again. If not, they flip back, so remember where they were.

How do you get better at memory games?

Flip a card you haven't seen first, then check whether its match is one you've already seen. Say the spots in your head as you go, like top row, second card.

How many cards are there?

Pick a 4 by 4 board with 8 pairs, or a 6 by 6 board with 18 pairs for a longer game.

Can two players play Memory Match?

Yes. Take turns on one screen, or tap Invite a friend and send them the link to play from their own device. Whoever finds the most pairs wins.

What happens if it's a tie?

If you both find the same number of pairs, the game is a draw.

How hard is the computer?

Three levels. Easy forgets most cards, Medium remembers most, and Hard remembers every card it sees. Against Hard, every card you flip is a card it learns.
